A page-level publication checklist

Make indexability a content decision as well as a technical one.

Give the page a distinct job

Write the question this page answers and identify what makes its answer useful. A changed city name or product keyword is not automatically a new purpose. If several pages would give the reader the same answer, consider one stronger page with clear sections.

Inspect the evidence and the limits

For each claim, record its source and whether it describes an observation, a calculation or a projection. Check that examples are labeled and that any product availability claim matches the current offering. Remove unsupported ratings and invented customer stories.

Check what the visitor can reach

Confirm that the main text is available, navigation works, the primary task can be completed and error states are understandable. Check the page title, description, primary heading and canonical URL for the actual page. Structured data should describe visible content rather than adding invisible claims.

Make the indexing decision explicit

Keep private tools, drafts and placeholders out of public sitemaps. A sitemap should list the public canonical pages you want discovered, not every route in an application. After publishing, check HTTP status and indexing directives on the live URL. Sitemap submission is discovery assistance, not a promise of indexing.

Keep working through the question
